Central Asian Studies Society
The Central Asian Studies Society (CASS) was formed at the University of Chicago in the winter of 2001. Our primary objective is to expand both the academic and public communities' engagement with the peoples, histories, languages, and cultures of Central Asia. CASS emphasizes promoting Central Asian studies in academia, and we also work with members of Central Asian diaspora communities to publicly present the vibrancy of Central Asian cultures. We attempt to meet our objective by sponsoring musical performances, lectures, films, and other events.
